An Ordinance to amend the Promissory

Oaths Ordinance, 1869.

Be it enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the

advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as

follows:-

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Promissory

Caths Amendment Ordinance, 1939.

2. Section 5 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869,

is amended by the repeal of the words "oath of allegiance

and the" in the first line.

3.

Sub-section (2) of section 7 of the Promissory

Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word "Governor" at the end thereof "or other person lawfully presiding".

4. Section 8 of the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, 1869, is amended by the addition of the following words after the word "Governor" at the end thereof "or other person

lawfully presiding".

5. The Schedule to the Promissory Oaths Ordinance, is repealed and the following Schedule is substituted

therefor:-
